In an effort to prove that I aren't ded I bring you a meme

Stolen off pretty much everyone on my flist:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they listen in rapture to the love-music of she-turnips." I might feel compelled to mock your musical taste, but I'll certainly remember you.

It would be great if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

Proper post about my weekend to come soonish.

There are lots of B&W postcards with old movie stars on the wall above my bed: Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich,
Charlie Chaplin, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe...

I ♥ shopping. I have crushes on a couple of men over fifty. Tony Head is one of them.

I R BABOON, also likes gadgets.

Two random things:

I friended you because of a meme, in which [livejournal.com profile] taperoo2k pimped you as a friend.

Being a total HP nerd, I went to the Deathly Hallows release in London and met up with my dorky CoSforums friends.

Okay, I never do this, but anyway

Hey, I'm Jess. 15, from the UK :) Erm I assume you're my friend. I think you must be right? Anyway, hi. I am a lurker, I guess xD. I don't interact on these things. I think it just kind of goes over my head just how many people are on here o_O Idk I just never talk to anyone on it. I come here for Doctor Who and Panic! At The Disco stuff, with occasional Pirates Of The Carribean, John Barrowman, Russell Brand, Green Day, My Chemical Romance.. loads of stuff really.

But hey.

I don't get notified either so I won't know if you'll reply to this or whatever, but hey, let's be friends :]

[/random.]

PS I think I'm just happy because I finally broke up for Christmas after 2 weeks of mock exams <3

I'm told that I have 'one of those laughs'. Apparently, I'm not to be offended by this as it is a good thing. Infectious they call it. Apparently you can hear me coming a mile off just because of my laugh. And I tend to laugh a lot because it is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

I've been converted to a dog person this year after getting a puppy. Can't resist those big brown eyes.

When I was house-sharing a few years ago, my flatmates and I applied to be on the long-forgotten BBC show Celebrity Sleepover, and we were offered the chance to have Richard "Countdown" Whiteley stay at our house!

Sadly we had to turn them down because my flatmates chickened out of the chance to be on the telly. Curses...

I don't remember how I found you, but I'm fairly sure I stayed for the fandom stuff.

Anyway, completely random thing about me: My brain keeps telling my I like/enjoy certain things (bread sticks dipped in chocolate spread, biscuits, crisps, visiting IKEA when I really don't need anything) that I don't actually enjoy as much as my brain insists I will and aren't actually all that good for me.
I'm well aware of the fact that my brain is a treacherous thing and will lie to me, so often I can talk myself out of doing those things.
At least for a while.
Because, in the end, I cave. Without fail.

Luckily those things aren't that bad for me...

I AM LAZY :D

So I'm copy/pasting what I did elsewhere - you probably know some of this, if not most of it already!

I'll answer this for you, while I haven't for others on my flist, because they've been around to know me pretty well :D

I am an aging fangirl. (45) I've been an online fan since the 80s - BEFORE the web! Was on BBSes back then, and going to cons.

I've been heavily involved in several: Star Trek (in the 80s), Anne Rice (back in the day), The Sopranos, Buffy, and Angel. I was one of those who ran Saving Angel (Look! me and Joss! *beams*).

I live in suburban Dallas. I was born in Philadelphia. Spent 27 years living there and the burbs, with a couple years at Penn State. Finished college at Villanova, near home. Then, I started moving around a lot. Lived in Reno, northern Cali, Florida, Tennessee, Florida, Austin, and now here. Spent time overseas in Spain.

I am currently freelancing (not as much as I'd like to) doing web work. I've been...MANY things. PR, tech writing, journal writing, graphics, corporate communications, tech support, html and photoshop instruction, entertainment booking, etc etc. The PC came around after I graduated high school, or I probably would have been a college computer geek. As it was, I learned it alter, and took advantage of it. Was a liberal arts major :D

Am married, no kids. This is second husband, and by far, best husband :D He's 9 years younger, chronologically. I'm about 15 years younger, mentally ;) He's named Scott. He's a southerner who helps me assimilate here ;)

We have 4 dogs and many fish, in 2 saltwater tanks. We're both active in our local marine aquarium society - he's on the board of directors, I do the newsletter. (it's a big thing! we have over 600 members!).

We live in an old (1940s - ancient and historical by Dallas standards!) house, which we rent. We would have bought, but hubby kept getting transferred so we rented - so of course, we've been in Dallas for 6 years! The house is a bit shabby, but has an acre, fenced, which makes the dogs happy. We both VERY much want to move back to Florida at some point. We adore the beach, fishing, snorkling, etc.

Online, I'm fandom eclectic now! Mostly tv fandoms. I co-mod lost_tv and heroes_tv.

I've had some health issues the past few years, including surgeries and stuff. I'm ok mostly, just not 100%, and my 'issues' make going back to work outside the house difficult. I have good and bad days. Nothing's gonna kill me, so it's all good :D But it makes working at home much better for me.

ENOUGH!

ETA: Oh - am very opinionated (LJ voted me most opinionated! *giggle*), outspoken, and caring of my friends. I won't sugarcoat the truth, and I also won't lie to you. I am liberal politically, but do NOT fit any party's platforms 100%.

I write fanfiction, but I often wish that I could write more frequently... because even when I do what I think is good, very few comments come my way because I post so infrequently. Is it a bad thing to be jealous of great writers like you?

[identity profile] steviesun.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Umm, I find it hard to think what you might not know already. Oh, I think you're made of win, but I don't think that counts as something about me. Umm, I'm almost feeling sad about Tennent playing Hamlet, not because it's Tennent, but because he's the Doctor. Bet you never thought you'd hear me say something like that (or see it written).

[identity profile] purpleallison.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm usually a jeans, Doc martens, t-shirt and flannel (The grunge style, although I'm not a fan of Nirvana, heh) type of girl, but I *love* dressing up in costumes for halloween and conventions and such.

I CURRENTLY BE DYING OF LURGY. I NEEDS A DOCTOR!

When on earth were you voted most opinionated by LJ?

p.s. OMG you and Joss!

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony Head is a fine figure of a man (although it's depressing that he's actually starting to look a bit old now). But yay for him coming back on our screens soon(ish) (probably).

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Richard Whitely = best sleepover you never had!!

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I've not written anything in over a year now. I'd hardly count myself as a great writer :) I can't even read back the vast majority of stuff I've ever committed to computer, including most of my journal posts :D

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I found this one hanging around a phone box. Will he do?

[identity profile] gamiila.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm off to see Lee Mead in Joseph in *counts them* 16 days' time. Way-hey!

I think I probably was attracted by your fandoms. I am 35 and I live in a 3 bedroomed semi on the Isle of Man. I have a car and a garage and double glazing, central heating and a power shower - all of the above are still great novelties to me. I enjoy Chamber music and ten-pin bowling .. oh no, sorry ... make that Muse and no sporty type effort thing at all!
