Oh hello, spoiling future eps!
So spoilery in fact that I'm not even going to screencap it. Now, this is the first time I noticed something from outside the ep that was currently airing so I'm not sure if it's happened on the other episodes too so I may go back and see.

Rhys watches Gwen in super slo mo

Rhys discovers that Gwen's been keeping secrets form him and it makes him (and us) sad. It just makes a bad day even worse, and the attitude of the policeman was awful too.

Ugh!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeat. Square meat should always be treated with suspecion. Like them elephant foots you get in kebab shops. In fact, it's probably the same meat. They say it's lamb, but I've never seen a lamb shaped like an elephant foot.

I feel that Team Torchwood treat forensics with contempt, they're all traipsing around the crime scene and the evidence has Jack's great big footprint in it. Nice.

Is she just going to get emotionally killed? Or is it just a coincidence? Hmmmmmm.

Picking all the meat off

Yes, discovering the topping of your pizza is probably made of alien is never fun to discover, but I think it's quite difficult to make a fake!pepperoni.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Nice to see that Rhys has progressed from ringing Gwen while she's at work.

Really there's nothing else that could be said that isn't already expressed in this picture.

Jack's amazing appearance

It always looks really good. it must freak out the tourists though to have what looks like a WWII apparition suddenly appear in front of you.

Arm holding - again

The boys of Team Torchwood are quite a chivalrous bunch. Just a shame Jack ruined it with his revelation that he enjoyed someone's alien meat. He's a smutty one.

Owen and Ianto do some investigating

And discover that the main entrance is at the front of the building. Nooooo, really? I'd have never thought to have looked there. They've obviously been having policing and investigation training from Gwen.

Gwen buys her mobile phone from Tescos. Fact

You really can buy everything from that supermarket. We also now know Rhys' phone number. Who's going to be the first to ring it then?

Alarm deactivator

This is not the industry standard. Owen just likes firing off his gun. And blowing any element of surprise they may have had. And just to make sure the bad guys inside heard him - he slams the door open and then closed. Rubbish.

Rhys is subtle, but a bit off the mark. Rhys and Gwen's argument was so uncomfortable to watch. Mainly because it was so real. That's how I argue (only I use a bit more swearing)


There is no reason for this one, other than the fact I love her expression.

Oh, she's got her rock ballad hands out. Watch out Rhys.

I didn't know you could actually buy them from shops and stuff. Sorry I realise that I should be paying attention to the fact Gwen's just blabbed about aliens and stuff. I was also distracted by the book behind her head that seems to be all about meat.

Owen, you've become a bit dickish.

I'm sure the magic slab has moved over one. I blame all the building work they were doing on Roald Dahl Plass when I was there in January. The council have broke the Hub.

Jack's comment about timelines and stuff makes me wonder: is the Rift not too disimilar to the anomalies that the team over on Primeval are investigating. Could one day, the reports of Myfanwy fishing off the shores of Cardiff Bay get back to Cutter and his team and we get a cross-show, cross-channel crossover of awesome?

Love the fact Jack's immediately on the defensive. He's like an alpha male baring his teeth at an interloper.

Give it up Tosh. You're too good for Owen. She seems to have forgotten Tommy really quickly though and that makes me sad. Poor Tommy.

Let me count the ways how this is wrong. *shakes head* Again, it's more characterisation that's gone awry.

Jack is a dirty old flirt. And he's old enough to be her Great-great-great grandfather too!

Yes, I'm sure Jack can go long distances. In fact I'm positive of the fact. Keep on truckin' indeed.

Look! It's the team being really really competent and stealthy and stuff. Brilliant!

Poor poor alien

Someone give the giant manatee a hug. The way he/she had been cut open was really distressing, as were Dale's comments that "it doesn't feel pain" because it's an animal. That sort of attitude makes me happy and really I'm with Rhys and his annoyance that they got off with no punishment at all. I'm an eye for an eye girl and would have punished them by lopping off some fingers or maybe an arm. After all, Dale's only an animal - he doesn't feel pain.

It is the easiest way to distract someone. Just great them in a friendly, if somewhat bumbling manner. They'll fall under your thrall and you'll be able to stun gun them. Work every time. Just ask Hugh Grant.

Our more incompetent Torchwood - oh I've missed you.

It's more of a return to form. Held hostage and relying on Owen to save them all.

Kicking in doors and stun gunning to the head. If this new ruthless look isn't indicative of Ianto's dark past then I don't know what is. remember this is the man who has very little active service and h's the most ruthless of the lot.

I'd be pissed off if I was injected in my nose

So it's no surprise that the giant space!whale is too. I think Owen made the right decision there. There was no way they'd be able to heal the poor creature, it was in terrible pain and there was no certainty that they'd be able to get the poor creature home.

Providing comfort

That was actually quite sweet.

Not the first time Rhys has been on that bed

But at least this time, he's a bit more alive, which is a relief, I was a tiny bit worried to begin with.

Yay it's the Croeso Canolfan!

They spent so much money on that bit of set, yet use it so rarely. It's weird to see it without it's protective shutters on it.

A couple of people have already mentioned in their reviews how Rhys would be rather well-suited to being a member of Team TARDIS. He's now more open to the wider view and being able to see space for what it really is.

Gwen makes a hard decision

And risks everything to stand up for her beliefs and save Rhys from a retconning. And yes, he is the best of all of you. We've been saying it for years.

OMG, that was spoilertastic even by the Beeb's standards. We don't actually have to watch it now. We can all go and play outside, or have a long relaxing bath or something.


In Conclusion
Not as strong as the previous episodes. Which comes as quite a surprise as Cath Treganna's episode last year was one of my favorite of the whole run.

Disappointed with the character regression that afflicted some of the team.

Few points in responce.

First - check out the silencer on Owen's gun. And I love the way he gets to the point. Very him, including the way that he does no real harm by it, it's not like he was shooting a person.

I completely agree with you about Tosh being too good for Owen. I think Jack should share Ianto with her. But that's just me and I seem to naturally gavitate to OT3 rather than OTP.

My last point is more to do with "next week". Ws it just me, but didn't "Grey" call Jack "Jack"? I thought it wasn't his real name, and hence why would he be getting called it? Next week confuses me. Oh well, back to work on the cuddly cyberman.

I agree with the argument. Most arguments on TV shows dont sound right. Once the nasty words come out and they dont stop when things get heated, It did feel real for once.

Yeah, I dont know what to do with the whole jealous thing Jack's on this week. Poor Ianto. I'd be telling Jack to &^%* off...

Maybe it was just the "Harkness" part that wasn't his original name? Or the memories are being fucked up, mixing the past with his current life?
