My heart has joined the thousand...

I was woken at 2.45am this morning by a text from [livejournal.com profile] amybrown584 (who is currently living it up in the future in Oz) with a message that simply said:

Heath Ledger is Dead :(

I think I must have thought I was dreaming or something because I think I just went back to sleep. It was only when I got up this morning and switched on the telly to have BBC News showing him being put into a ambulance that I realised just how horrible and real it is.

It's just so surreal. He's even younger than me. People younger than me don't just die. It's awful.

My love of A Knight's Tale and Ten Things I Hate About You are fairly well known in RL but I don't think quite so well known by you lot on here. So I've had Heath Ledger on my list of actors I luff for quite a while. (Actually since he was in Home and Away probably). I was really looking forward to seeing him in Batman Begins especially after the way everyone's bigged up how ace he is in it. Now it's just going to be really, really weird.

He always came across in interviews as a really nice and affable chap, and he was never caught falling out of clubs and stuff like a lot of 'talent' his age. However, he was one of those actors who really worked at keeping his public and private lives seperate, who knows what really went on. :( Maybe it was really all a terrible, tragic accident. I really hope so.

Most of all I feel sorry for his poor little daughter, who's going to grow up only knowing her daddy through his films. :(

ETA: There's even been a tribute on icanhascheezeburger.com

And this is how I'm going to remember him, singing my favourite song in a scene that still raises a smile.

I heard it late last night and couldn't quite believe it. Like you, I love Ten Things and A Knight's Tale and also don't believe anyone younger than me should die. I hope it is just a terrible accident, even though that's unbelievably sad.

I hear you.

I too have been heartbroken over what happened to Heath, for the same reasons you cited. :(

:( :(

I was quite shocked to hear of his death. It's going to be quite hard watching the Dark Knight, a film i've been looking forward to since i heard Heath Ledger had been cast as the Joker.

I couldn't have say it any better. All signs seem to point to an accidental death right now, but it still doesn't make it any easier to comprehend.

I'm like you; I loved A Knight's Tale and 10 Things... (though I haven't seen the latter in ages), and Brokeback, so it's going to be hard to rewatch those movies now. I was a big enough fan of Heath to perk up when his name was mentioned in entertainment news, and this is just a terrible, terrible loss.

I liked his work, although I wasn't a huge Heath fan. I thought he was fantastic in Brokeback Mountain.

But I think, like you, it's the age that gets me. My sister is older than him by about 3 months, and it's not right that people my sister's age should be dying. Yes, death is inevitable for all of us--but someone who is 28 has barely begun to live.

Shame.

I love "A Knight's Tale". I've been surprised the last couple of days by the way people dismiss it, just because it's a fluffy fun film.

Was he in "Home and Away" for long?

I don't really remember, it was over ten years ago, but I think it was in it for a year or so.

A Knight's Tale gets a lot of undeserved stick, which makes me sad because it is a lot of fun.
