I nearly just got hit by lightning

No really. I actually nearly did.

Driving home, minding my own business, thundercloud up above rumbling ominously. Suddenly about sixty or seventy foot in front of me lightning hit the road (m'Dad reckons it hit a drain cover). Had I left work 10 or 15 seconds earlier it would have been a direct hit!

I am somewhat freaked out by it. (Yes I know being in a car is the safest place to be in a thunderstorm but my no claims discount would have been decimated.)

I rung His Lordship and my dad when I got in and they both said "Did you take a picture of it?" erm, no.

I've got home and it's clear blue sky and sunny. But over towards work it's just a mass of black.

Whoa, that's scary. Mind you, my plane was once hit by lightning and nothing happened, so I guess the car would've been all right, too

Eeeek! How scary! Glad you're okay...though you really ought to have taken a picture...;-)

How very practical of them!

(Same thing happened to me once, I was walking home from primary school and lightning hit a drain cover about ten metres in front of me. Scared the shit out of me, I even walked around the houses to avoid the path)

Have you angered any deities lately?

Yikes, thank God you're OK!

Wow. :O That would have killed me out of sheer terror.

Glad you're alright. And not just because you've got the tickets for saturday. Must have been real scary, cup of tea time methinks!

As long as you're not burning (at the center of time or anywhere else) then you've won the battle of Human vs. The Universe, at least this time. Boy, do I understand the shock value, though. Have a cuppa and relax as much as you're able to.

Scary but cool. When lightening strikes anywhere near you it is scary. Apparently my friend got hit once but he's one of the 'and walked away' types.

That's rather epic (and scary!).
Lolz at the men-folk.

Ouch! Glad you're ok - that sounds fairly scary :-/
