owie!

In my office, by the front door is an occasional table. It's square, birch effect and about 18 inches high. Me and the occasional table have had a good relationship over the last five years. It's let me stand on it to hang Christmas decorations, it's been the gatekeeper of number files and booklets, but today that's all changed.

I was walking past said table this morning when it jumped up and attacked me. ATTACKED ME! I can't explain it. There's no way I could have walked into it. I've walked past it about a million times. I definitely wasn't as rubbish to have walked into it. Oh no.

I've been left with a massive egg of a bump just under my kneecap so my left leg now has two kneecaps, I can't bend my leg and driving home tonight absolutely killed. (I took the route back with the least gear changes).

Suffice to say the occasional table and I are no longer on speaking terms.

In other news
I'm going to give Bonekickers a try. Why?
[x] It's written by the lovely Matthew Graham (and Tom McRae's done an ep too)
[x] It's got Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Tish from DW) in it.
[x] It's like a sexed up version of Time Team (but it does need moar Tony Robinson)and also like a slightly less rubbish version of The Da Vinci Code
[x] AND imdb reckon that Burn Gorman is going to be in a future episode. \o/

OUCH!

Can you see a doctor about your knee tomorrow? It sounds rather grisly, to be honest.

Feel better soon!

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
The swelling had mostly gone down the next day and I've still not been to the doctors as I can't get an appointment until a week next Wednesday.

Ouch. Tables, like walls, have the tendency to change places just to annoy us

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'd understand if I worked in a TARDIS, but I don't and therefore inanimate objects should NOT move!

My sympathies. I had a glass throw itself at me today. But thankfully instead of hitting me it hit the floor and shattered instead. These things do throw themselves really.

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
That's one mean and nasty glass. How's your poorly leg btw?

[identity profile] venefican.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch! D'you reckon it'll go down or will you have to see a doctor? (Especially since you're going to have to use your knee, for obvious reasons =P)

It does seem to be 'attack of the inanimate objects' week - a tree lept out and attacked me yesterday, so I'm got a lovely collection of scratches next to my eye. We need to keep a closer eye on these 'innocent' objects!

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
It had mostly gone down the next day and I don't have an impressive bruise to show off for my misery either, which is very annoying.

If it's only a table occasionally, what is it the rest of the time? [/feeble attempt at humour to cheer you up]

Furniture can be vicious that way. It'll lurk there for months or even years, lulling you into a false sense of security, and then it POUNCES!

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
I fell for it, but never again, I shall be on my guard. Of course I wouldn't have had a problem had I have been wearing stilts.

The same stilts which might be your only defence against burrowing killer slugs.

[identity profile] kissingdaylight.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely wasn't as rubbish to have walked into it.

Never. ;)

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not :D

[identity profile] txvoodoo.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
well, looks like I'll be watching Bonekickers, too ;)

When does it air?

And take care of that knee!

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
It was on BBC 1 last night. ;)

It was a little bit rubbish and I did do some eyerolling but t as enjoyable.

[identity profile] sal101010.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ouch. I hope you don't suffer any lasting damage. And give the table a good kick in return!

I watched Bonekickers, but Andrew only lasted five minutes, which was spent giggling insanely. And then I kicked him out of the room! It was rather pants I'm afraid, but I bet I watch it next week too. It's too long till new Spooks or any Sea of Souls...

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
it passes an hour and it's better than Big brother.

[identity profile] marcella-riddle.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I watched that last night. LOLed at the ridiculous amounts of exposition. And the silly religious informercials. Mum commented after that, like in DW, they tend to talk fast when explaining stuff. I pointed out to her that it's some of the same writers, hehe. I'm in it for the pretty though (Gugu).

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
I still think it needs moar Tony Robinson, but that's just me.

[identity profile] lm-jillybean.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Part of me really wants to try Bonekickers, but Mum would kill me I think. I'll wait to see more reviews and then catch the repeats.

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2008-07-12 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
My friends who are into archaeology mocked it mightily. They still sat through it though.
