It's a bilbo!post!
Poor Mr Bilbo. He's not been very well the last few days.
The last few mornings Bilbo's been throwing up. Being a little boy cat it's definitely not morning sickness and he's been fine once he's been sick going "oh hai, iz it breakfast tiem nao?"
Worried that he'd accidentally poisoned himself I pulled on the rubber gloves and when I was cleaning up I was checking for slug pellets or lily petals or anything like that. Because that cat will eat anything! I couldn't find anything so I decided to take him to the V E T S today. In a tricksey manner I tried to tire him out with his laser pen and his fish on a string so that he would be a bit more pliable to get into the cat basket.
Fat chance of that.
I did eventually get him into the cat basket only to trap his tail in the lid. Oops.
The vets always look a bit worried when I walk towards them with a hissing cat basket, although Bilbo was quite well behaved for a V E T S visit. He tolerated being poked and prodded by the vet who diagnosed that Bilbo was either:
a) pregnant (unlikely, being a little boy cat)
b) suffering with heartburn.
I didn't even know that cats could get heartburn. For his troubles Bilbo got two injections (one anti-inflammatory to reduce any owies in his stomach/throat, one steroid-based to calm the nausea) and I was packed off home with some medicine that I need to try and get in his face twice a day.
I didn't do so well tonight and ended up hiding it in Bilbo's food. I am made of fail.
So that cost me £53 tonight :/
And if he's still throwing up by the end of the week he needs to go back again for blood tests and an x-ray in case there's a problem with his insides.
Whilst the vet was checking down his throat he commented on how Bilbo's teeth need a bit of a clean (I value my face and my arms, I'm not sticking anything in his mouth!) so Bilbo will be back off to the V E T S at some point soon to have his teeth cleaned (He'll be sedated for this, it's probably for the best).

For something that manages to stick to you so very well when it wants a cuddle, they sure can make themselves scarce when it's something to be shoved down their gob.
