What's LJ done...

...that's making a lot of people jump ship to Dreamwidth?

(I really need to start getting onto LJ more than once a week)

Set it up so people can x-post to Twitter or Facebook - but anyone can x-post comments from your FLocked posts without needing your permission. There's no opt out option - you have to do a CSS work-around to remove the x-post options from your entries' comments.

The CSS doesn't work on ppl such as me who use ?style=mine or ?format=light. :-/

And pingbacks are working again... even if you have them switched off.

P.S. __k__: I have dreamwidth codes if you need one. ;-)

They made it so users could post comments they've made to other friends locked posts onto Facebook or Twitter. Also, their pingback feature has some bugs if the security level is changed.

I see it appears to be the cross-posting thing that has upset people. And: understandable. I'm not eager to jump ship myself, though...I really do not feel like building a whole new journal from scratch (icons and everything) and I have so much history here...I don't want to leave behind all my posts and fics...

Well, as to that: DW lets you import your journal, friends, interests, tags etc. all in a matter of a few hours (I was amazed at the speed of the import; considering I've been posting for 7,5 years I'd have thought it would take much longer). The only downside is though that icons are restricted to just 15 for free accounts, so it won't let you import all of them (unless you opt for a paid account, when you're allowed 100).
