FFS!

His Lordship was copying over photos from the camera memory card onto the computer and managed to corrupt the whole card meaning I've lost ALL the photos from Ex-Cheddar's Naming Ceremony, ALL the pictures of her opening her birthday presents and ALL THE PHOTOS FROM HER FIRST BIRTHDAY! (plus all the photos I took through November, like the video of her first solo underwater swim, all the photos from Longleat - so much for that Picspam)

I am absolutely devastated.

Computers make me *headdesk*

I've got a licenced copy of Nod32 2.7 which is saying that my laptop is clean
I've downloaded the free version of Malwarebytes and that's saying my laptop is clean

But Spybot refuses to load and open and according to the Spybot website I've still got malware on my computer somewhere but nothing is finding it. ARGH!

I don't know what to do now.

Stuff and nonsense

[x] Two 1gb sticks of RAM arrived in the post at work for me today. Took them home, put them in the computer and lo it appears to be working! His Lordship is running some bad sector repairs on the hard drives and had tried things that are a bit memory intensive like photoshop and firefox to see if it crashes and so far it hasn't *crosses fingers that it stays this way* We're not even getting corrupted file or registry errors so it looks like it's on the mend. I am banned from using it now. This makes me emo as I have episodes of Chuck and Pushing Daisies to watch. wah!!!

[x] His Lordship's £150 present from HMV also finally turned up. I never realised that a computer game weighed so much. Especially when the last Guitar Hero game weighed so little :D

[x] ALL MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IS NOW DONE! *\o/*

[x] Special post has gone out today to [livejournal.com profile] doylefan22 and [livejournal.com profile] dune_drd. Special post for [livejournal.com profile] chicklet73 will go out tomorrow once I've picked up a DWM for you. More special post is still to go out but I'm not going to have time to get them finished until the weekend.

[x] Been granting wishes on [livejournal.com profile] holiday_wishes. Well, offering to grant them anyway. I now need to dig out some beads, some glue and buy some postcards and make an LJ layout to actually fulfill them. if you have a similar wishlist on your journal's and I've not left a comment on it already point me in it's direction, yeah.

[x] Going to Bingo tomorrow (shut up). This time last year one of my workmates won a 42 inch plasma telly at the bingo. Not bad for a £2 play.

[x] Oh poor David Tennant. :( Back surgery isn't fun at any time of the year.

Stuff

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] morbid_sparks, [livejournal.com profile] kharma2815 and [livejournal.com profile] poisoninjest for your cards :) and [livejournal.com profile] rivrea for the present, it's a bit exciting I don't know what it is and I haven't shook it or anything.

His Lordship's £150 present still hasn't turned up. Well done HMV for trusting it to Royal Mail without even a certificate of posting. I'll be immensely annoyed if it's been pinched by some light fingered postie. :(

In computer news, I couldn't fix it before His Lordship got home. He swore a lot, we did a PC check and the motherboard is okay but both sticks of RAM are b0rked. So I've ordered some more and got express delivery so hopefully they should be here in the morning. It appears that the RAM has crapped up our C: drive too as we're getting a lot of corrupted file errors. Would doing a system restore back into the middle of last week sort that out?

Halp!

Our desktop computer keeps spewing out this error message when it does a blue screen of death. Does anyone know what it means and how I can fix it before His Lordship gets home and discovers that I've somehow managed to crap up his £800 computer.

Pissing Computers!

External Hard Drives are more trouble than they are worth. My second one has gone now. And it looks like exactly the same thing that knackered the first one (the usb bridge/driver corrupting) - only problem is is that this one is 9 days outside it's twelve month warranty. ARGH!

I've not lost *everything* this time. I backed up eight DVDs of stuff when the last one went tits up, but I've still got probably six months of stuff that could be lost beyond repair.

I'm going to have to take it around to His Lordship's Dad tomorrow to see if he can retrieve anything from it at all.

Recommendations for any external hard drives? I'm going to put my birthday money towards a new one now.
