Thank you [livejournal.com profile] morbid_sparks, [livejournal.com profile] kharma2815 and [livejournal.com profile] poisoninjest for your cards :) and [livejournal.com profile] rivrea for the present, it's a bit exciting I don't know what it is and I haven't shook it or anything.

His Lordship's £150 present still hasn't turned up. Well done HMV for trusting it to Royal Mail without even a certificate of posting. I'll be immensely annoyed if it's been pinched by some light fingered postie. :(

In computer news, I couldn't fix it before His Lordship got home. He swore a lot, we did a PC check and the motherboard is okay but both sticks of RAM are b0rked. So I've ordered some more and got express delivery so hopefully they should be here in the morning. It appears that the RAM has crapped up our C: drive too as we're getting a lot of corrupted file errors. Would doing a system restore back into the middle of last week sort that out?

I have had so many bad experiences with the Royal Mail I can;t even count them anymore. Our stupid postman frequently leaves parcels with neighbours without even a card through our door. Here's hoping things work a little better for you!

If worst comes to worst with the C drive and you haven't got everything backed up I'd suggest buying an external case for it, transferring the files across to another PC and reformatting.

A system restore probably won't fix any personal files because it leaves those alone (so it doesn't delete/revert anything you've done to them).

Hope things get sorted!

Ick. Sorry to hear of your computer woes, and woes of the postal nature too. BOO. I hope His Lordship's present turns up, and soon!

We had a load of problems with Royal Mail recently (they held a thousand pounds worth of guitar without even delivering a card, despite the fact it was recorded delivery) - one of my Christmas presents for my stepdad didn't arrive and I contacted the company I'd bought from - they sent me a replacement free of charge, so it's always worth a shot. If the company hasn't sent it recorded delivery I think they accept that delivery is a risk.

If they won't replace, you might still get your cash back if you paid by card.

I'm glad that my present has already arrived and I very much admire you for your restraint. Hope you'll like it!
