kalihaI did a bit of film watching over the weekend.
We started off with a film that was even worse than a really shit episode of Torchwood (and that's saying something)
Premise
Girl and boy are abducted by aliens, boy is anal-probed and killed, girl is impregnated. Crappy Most Haunted-style alien investigations show hears about it and goes to do a reconstruction. And basically take the piss.
Only problem is the aliens are real, and a bit blood thirsty.
Verdict
All your demographics are covered: bimbo, sarky film crew, 'sexy' television presenter (Emily Booth – always a sign of quality), UFO geek etc etc and literally the most famous person in it (after Emily) is Norman Lovatt (aka Holly from Red Dwarf).
It really did play out like an episode of Torchwood Rusty turned down. Pretty much the only good thing about it was that the Welsh characters (for yes, it was set on a little Welsh island only accessible via a tidal causeway) spoke actual, proper Welsh (that was actually grammatically correct – mostly) and wasn't just long vowels.
It was awful. Absolutely awful. I can't believe it even managed a six on imdb.com
I didn't want to watch it anyway. His Lordship only got it because it sounded funny. How wrong he was!

The Life and times of Ron Burgundy – the 70's-ish US equivalent of Bob Warman from off Central News (only he's not as sexy as Bob).
Verdict
Much more fun. Lots of fab polyester suits, Vince Vaughan stealing the show as always and some of the best moustaches seen since those heady days of the late 70's.
The Dog was ace. Mike from Friends was also ace. Steve Carell – exceedingly creepy. I think it was his head – but he always freaks me out a little.
The rivalries between all the different news teams was hilarious and I loved the big fight. All it was missing though was a cameo from Owen Wilson (although brother Luke did make an appearance).

Really need to do some catching up on Heroes too, especially with it starting again soon. That's next on my list to watch.
