It's the Weekly Pub Quiz post!
November 9th, 2005 09:23 amYay, another Tuesday evening, another night down the Pub Quiz!
No Jim this week so we were just a team of four: me, His Lordship, Claire and Hugh. We were hoping for a first as we usually win when Jim's not here. And our nemesis team were minus a couple of people so they only had 8 on their team. We named ourselves Jim's in Wolves (as he was in Wolverhampton - but we nearly called ourselves Jim's not here, so we're gonna win - but it wouldn't have fitted on the line.)
( General Ignorance - The general knowledge questions )
The Pictures were a bit rubbish again with craptastic caricatures of Justin Timberlake (Hugh was convinced it was Eccles - I set him straight - the ears were *much* too small ;)), Kylie and Pink; a car that was apparently a Bentley and a picture of Christopher Walken in a mystic-y turban (what film is that from?). We managed 8/10 for that round.
I made a boo-boo in the sounds round. One of the questions is three TV themes, only there's not much space to write them in so I had to put the name of one of the themes on a different line with a big arrow pointing to it. Sadly the DJ didn't notice and didn't give us the point for it. Why this is so important will become clear later. So for that round we got 9/10
The Music round was shocking again. Somehow we managed to get full points but it was very flukey.
Sixteen teams were playing and the DJ always does the results from last to first. And we came....
JOINT FIRST! with our nemesis team. And this is where my boo-boo has more significance because if I hadn't have done it we would have won. *looks ashamed* Podge spoke to the DJ about my mistake and he said that because he's already said it was a tie-break he couldn't take it back, which is fair enough. We lost the tie-break so the DJ split the prize (so each team got six bottles of crap beer) and declared it a draw.
The Boys V Girls round was a bit more successful with me correctly guessing Evanescence and Kayne West (which is a little bit shameful) but the girls still lost 15-11.
No pub quiz next week as we're going to see Elbow.
