In a recent Channel 4 "100 Best ... EVER!" show on stand-up comedians, Stewart Lee as voted 41st best by you, the viewing public. Accepting that these polls are essentially bollocks (After all, he points out, this is the same viewing public who constantly vote Del Boy falling through the bar in Only Fools and Horses as comedy genius) he has decided to accept this accolade as fact and 'lo this show was born.

And a very entertaining hour and a bit it was. We get an insight into his relationship with his quilt-making mum who raves over seeing Tom O'Connor (of Crosswits fame, ask yer mum) and thinks that her son should get a proper job. The bitterness stemming from getting a BBC Two series commissioned only to have it cancelled in practically the same breath. And a twenty second joke that stretched into a ten minute routine that (even with the joke repeated every thirty seconds or so) still got a massive laugh each time, and nearly killed His Lordship (who couldn't breathe for laughing, for those are his favourite style of jokes)

His contempt of Channel Four knows no bounds and he wittily points out all the inherent horror in the Big Brother Race Row and how Russell Brand and the Carphone Warehouse managed to trivialise it. And he sums up Richard Littlejohn perfectly too.

And he sums up Weightwatchers even better than Peter Kay ever did too.

A highly enjoyable 8/10.

There was also a warm-up act who billed himself as the German Ambassador to Comedy. He wasn't very funny.
