Third Annual Panto Meet-up
December 31st, 2007 12:29 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So, Saturday was our now-traditional Panto Meet-up. And I think a lot of lovely fun was had by all. It was ace meeting both friends you only get to see at the meet-up plus lots of lovely new people. Hello to
flipbfc,
nightbeast,
joulez217 (and also happy birthday to you),
atraphoenix,
conjunkie,
tiggerbrasilf,
lixa_turner,
sal101010,
doylefan22,
kharma2815,
steviesun,
amanduriel,
badfalcon,
shariaiah and Mel)
We even has a Jack!bear, two Ianto!bears, a small plastic Jack, Rose and Ninth Doctor and a Tenth Doctor (*waves to
nightbeast*)
It wasn't without it's trauma's through, with people getting lost and car tyres blowing up in one of the Queensway tunnels o_0
Because good fangirls we all met up beforhand in the pub. (I was very good and was on the hot chocolates all night)
Thanks to a well-placed merchandising/tat stall we felt the compulsion to buy some flashing bunny ears, just because. :) I think I look rather good in them and will be wearing them to work after Christmas. Yup yup yup. And I think ours look better than John's do in my icon. Cos ours flashed.

We made a stylish bunch!

Even Jack!bear wanted a go

Ianto!bear was a bit scared by the 3-D
A couple of stand out points from the show (without spoiling you too much)
[x] It's nice to see that Dalek Sec is still getting lots of work. It's a bit sad that the Daleks have to resort to panto to earn enough to take over the world. You wouldn't see the Cybermen doing that.
[x] I feel I should stand up for Sutton Coldfield - it's not so rough that a cart of washing would get nicked. It's not like Newtown or Aston :p
[x] John Barrowman going "Dudloi"
[x] The Grumbleweeds were a surprising amount of fun. Although one of them has much better legs than I have! Which is quite depressing.
[x] One of the little kids who came up on stage was called Jack. Much to John's pleasure.
[x] The people sat in front of us were tryin to duck out of the way of the 3-D effects, much to mine and
doylefan22's amusement.
[x] All the 3-D stuff was very good. Especially the magic carpet ride.
[x] There was a spot of singalongaHairspray.
[x] There were loads of Who and Torchwood (and a Touchwood) comments scattered throughout the show, just in case you'd forgotten what John's best known for at the moment.
[x] Masashi Fujimoto (the bloke from Banzai who wasn't Burt Kwok or Shakey Hand Man) was ace. (And also tiny!)
[x] The little stage school kids were very, very cute.
[x] The white costume John was sporting was, erm, very revealing.
It was obvious John was really enjoying himself. Which pleases me, because I've been going to Hippodrome pantos since I was very, very ickle and hold them in very, very high regard (and I got to meet Danny La Rue one year - yes I was one of the tiny people who go up on stage - I'd have been able to summarise the story so far a bit better than the slightly starstuck kids who found themselves standing with Captain Jack!)
After the show, still with our seizure-inducing bunny ears on, like a well-behaved hen party we headed off round the corner to the stage door. Which was surprisingly quiet. Well quiet compared to Cardiff last year but much busier than Wimbledon the year before that.

John (as always) had loads of time for everyone (even though he wanted to get off to go to the pictures. Did you enjoy your film? - I hope you didn't go to the Odeon on New Street). I think he was also quite taken with Jack!bear - he certainly recoginised who the bear was supposed to be. Then again, they do both share the same coloured fur (or something).
To save him hanging around (and because there were loads of us) we had a big old group shot (which
doylefan22 got a good shot of as well as
sal101010's partner and weirdly, a group of random people who weren't part of our group, were you LJ people?) and off he dashed into the night to grab his (very, very posh 4x4) and dash off into the night (and hopefully not miss the start of his film).

We headed back to the pub. Because we're a bunch of lushes.
And then much later on back to home and to bed.
Be seeing most of you next summer then. Bring your pick-er-nick baskets.
