Honestly, the number of people that completely ignore the fact that both David and Patrick are RSC men makes me mad - it's so rude! David's even described doing the TV work as taking a sabbatical from the theatre - and I know for a fact he wants to get into theatre directing, which ought to be a clue.

When I interviewed Sylvester McCoy, my main angle was to talk about the perception among sci-fi fans that theatre work is secondary to TV and that cult actors who go back to the stage are perceived as being unable to get TV work, rather than unwilling. OK, it wasn't tactful, but McCoy more or less suggested I'd entirely invented the mindset and I wish this article had been around then.
