A couple of weeks back we went to Lincoln for the weekend. I've only just got around to pulling the pictures off my camera and here they are!

A stone lion in the botanical gardens

A house on Steep Hill. I really like this picture, just a shame the steetlight over exposed like it did.

The Cathedral looked very impressive all lit up as it was.

Cloisters in the Cathedral

It was free to go into the cathedral when we were there, so we decided to take advantage and have a look around.

Can you see the Lincoln Imp?

Blimey! What a big organ. *snigger*

In the gardens below the cathedral was an abandoned and partially destroyed building. All that was left was the frount wall. Weirdly the door in it was locked.

I'd like to go to Lincoln some day, mainly to see the cathedral. I'm contemplating a day trip to Canterbury when I'm next over there.

I can't wait to be in a country with genuinely old buildings again! "Old" in these parts is late 18th century. :P

Thanks for posting these - I think I spotted the imp, but I can't be sure; was that his head at the junction of the arches? The ruined building, with its locked door, looks lovely and sounds mysterious and creepy. And I think my favorite picture, oddly, is the one of the stained glass window reflections on the floor. I started wondering how many peoples' feet, over how many years, had walked that floor.

I don't know why but your photos make Lincoln look pretty but ever so slightly evil...

It's a skill and the fact I'm rubbish at holding the camera straight.

The picture with the windows is the oldest building in Lincoln and apparently dates from the 1200's. That is amazingly old.

It's really nice and because it's a student city it's pretty cheap too.
