Mooooooooooooose!
September 11th, 2009 07:46 pmI'm streaming The resistance off the muse.mu website at the moment. (you'll need to be a registered member to listen to the whole thing) Well it's ages until Monday and I want to hear it.
I also approve of all the old-skool photos of Teignmouth that make up the backdrops of the website at the moment.
Uprising
Still a cracky Doctor Who remix. However, having had it on the radio quite a bit this week it's really grown on me and I do genuinely like it.
Resistance
The very start reminds me of one of the b-sides whose name completely escapes me at the moment. I like the piano and the synthy drums are sooooo eighties.
Undisclosed Desires
I like the sharp strings at the start of this (Mind you I do have a bit of a thing about Muse and their strings). I think this'll be the second single off the album. Some of the lyrics mae me LOL though. God love them. SLAP BASS!
United States of Eurasia
There Can Be Only One.
(It still makes me laugh)
Guiding Light
This is going to sound very good live. It's got that epic-ness to it that always sounds so good in the NIA or the NEC.
Unnatural Selection
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm big organ sounds. *ahem* and a big \o/ to the guitar riffs. They be riff-tastic. And a bit near the end sounds a bit like System of a Down.
MK ultra
Another sexily riff-tastic track. Reminds me a bit of the rather awesome-Bliss.
I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S'ouvre A La Voix)
Instantly liked the piano at the start, and the tinkly wind chimes thing. it's really daft and overblown one minute and then quiet and personal the next. And then there all the singing en Francais and I don't know what he's saying but I likes it!
Exogensis Part I
The hairs on the back of my neck are standing on end. The strings are like the theme to FFVII.
Exogensis Part II
It's a bit Hoodoo-like
Exogensis Part III
it starts all nice and gentle and a bit Yann Tiersen (and that's a good thing by the way) and then it gets all layered and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end...
So, in conclusion
Blah, blah, blah, not as good as Origin of Symmetry. Blah, blah, blah, not enough songs. Sadfaces all round fo the lack of b-sides accompanying this. Blah, blah, blah, tired comparisons to Radiohead (honestly, what songs of Muse's sound like Radiohead wannabe songs? Someone please elighten me). I love the fact that it feels that Muse are really taking the piss with this album, I love the fact that they're not doing an OoS v2.0 or a BH&R v2.0 although the songs do contain reminders or hints or little riffs and chord combinations from some of their older songs and I like that. It's new but a bit familiar at the same time and it's total, total crack.
His Lordship thinks that Matt Bellamy's voice is turning from 'using his voice as an instrument' to a crooner and isn't impressed.
In other news Muse was still on the BBC red button this morning and there's a dcumentary or something on BBC Three tonight at 8pm (or it could be highlights, I'm not sure, I've got it Sky+'d for the just in case)

Date: Friday, September 11th, 2009 07:06 pm (UTC)The elitest prick Radiohead fans generally tend to say "X Band sounds like Radiohead" etc.
Anyway Radiohead are in totally different creative sphere to Muse.

Date: Saturday, September 12th, 2009 10:14 pm (UTC)RE Uprising: I'm glad I'm not the only person to think that! I heard it first when I was channel-hopping on the radio, and all I could think was, "Wait, that sounds like Muse! Or is it Doctor Who? It's like ... Doctor Muse?"

Date: Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 08:17 pm (UTC)Suddenly Eurasia makes perfect sense when taken as part of the whole.
I want to have the 80s power ballad babies of "Resistance" (Matt riding in on a motorcycle, with a wind machine). Blythe wants to have the Depeche Mode babies of "Undisclosed Desires".
Cracktastic.
