Life on Mars
April 4th, 2007 09:45 pm[x] Gene Hunt is a man's man. He'll take no shit from anyone. Just look at him biting out the sentances when he was swearing on the Bible. I wouldn't mess with him.
[x] Him taking a swing at Sam was hilarious - especially as I've seen that happen in real life too.
[x] But Sam, why (other than for plot purposes) did you leave Gene to wander off unaccompanied - you know that's only going to end in trouble.
[x] And what happened to his stripy tie that mysteriously disappeared, that's evidence that is.
[x] I didn't think Gene was a murderer, he's one of these people who are all bluster and flashes of anger but not cold-bloodied enough to actually kill someone.
[x] I did like the fact that Gene trusted in Sam to solve the case and get him off his murder rap. How things have changed, eh?
[x] Gene's cunning disguise was the most cunning thing I have ever seen. And I loved the way an old man in a pair of glasses tricked Chris and Ray. Oh, top quality CID chappies there.
[x] Gene has a thing for kicking in doors, doesn't he? It's a bit of a compulsion.
[x] Gene and Sam's sleepover was so very cute. God love them.
[x] Chase scenes for the win. :)
[x] And Gene is the best of all of them managing to solve the case while he was on the run and trying to be incognito (although how you're cognito driving around in the bright orange Ford Cortina I don't know).
[x] Plus he had millions of brilliant lines like "Diana Dors and a bottle of chip oil" and "If you want to overcompli--oh, of course you do" "My squirrel instinct tells me he's more of a bastard than I first thought" and "You're not the one's who's going to have to knit themselves a new arsehole". ILU Gene.
[x] Who on earth has their central heating on at two in the morning - that's just crazy.
[x] Gene being enchanted by the remote control. Bless.
[x] Annie looked very cute in her squirrel outfit. I vaguely remember Tufty the Road Safety Squirrel or something very similar to that. Crazy times the seventies.
[x] Annie and Sam's scene at the end was ever so sweet, particularly slightly drunk Sam. Awwww. I bet you any money that they never kiss. Annie's just too professional.
[x] Sam's nightmare, the second one - was that Annie calling for help and Gene chuntering in the background? I'm positive it was.
[x] Chris's dancing at the end was made of awesome. I wish I could dance like that. Woe.
[x] I don't trust Frank Morgan. I trust him even less than Gibbs. How can someone so nice, so professional and with a moustache like that be working for the powers of good. And he's from Hyde too, only I don't see how he is helping Sam's situation like Glenn (the only other member of the Hyde force we've seen.)
[x] And his promise that if Sam sells Gene down the river that he'll be allowed to go back home is a posion challice if ever there was one. But I suppose it could be Sam's subconscious (if we really are in his subconscious) telling him to forget all the mysogenistic, ladish stuff and embrace modern thinking - but that rings false to me.
[x] The mimicing of Sam on Hyde 2612 was really creepy.
[x] As was Morgan's modern policing techniques, which seem so out of place now it's scary.
[x] Not even a "Next Week on Life on Mars"! Bunch of gits.
[x] Bt this is it. next week we'll find out if Sam's next leap will be the leap home *sob*
[x] And you know what, I have this awful feeling about next week. And this is what I predict {invisitexted}Sam and Gene face off and sam has to make a choice - involving whether not not Gene is discredited and forced out of the force and in doing so is 'allowed to go home'/wakes from his coma only to die as the last scene plays out. Awaking with the knowledge that he's betrayed everyone from 1973.
[x] And {invisitexted} I don't think Gene is going to survive this either, after all, him and Sam are two sides of the same coin and it will explain, rather neatly, why Philip Glenister was so cagey about Ashes to Ashes on Chris Moyles the other day.
Oh and avoid the bloody Daily Mirror which has a massive grat big photo feature on next week's episode. I screwed it up the moment I saw it, but now I worry that I may have seen too much and it's spoilt for me. Which will leave me writing a very angry letter to the Mirror in my lunchbreak tomorrow. Grrrr

Date: Thursday, April 5th, 2007 03:45 am (UTC)Sam/Annie was so cute in this episode. Annie's really adorable, I just want to hug her all the time.
I constantly live in terror of getting spoiled via thoughtless newspaper twats. It's an absolute nightmare dodging those spoilers because they just come at you without warning. And I don't even READ newspapers or mags, so I can't imagine what it's like for those who do. I'll have to warn mum about this, as she loves LoM and would hate for any surprises to be ruined for her.
Bloody press and spoilers. I hate them. Pure, total hate. Not so much that they do spoilers, but that they do it in a way so that those who want to avoid them can't.
