I saw the Simpsons
August 18th, 2007 04:20 pmTuesday saw the clan heading out to the cinema for overpriced popcorn, slightly melted chocolate and a film.
Trailers:
Knocked Up: Saw it at a preview last week. (Must do the review for that). Funny bits from the film were still funny.
Run Fatboy Run: Simon Pegg in very little pants and Dylan Moran. really,m what could be better?
Stardust: Really want to see this. Robert De Niro!! I bet Ricky Gervais got a much bigger billing in the UK trailers thank in the American ones.
The Dark is Rising: I did have vaguely positive hopes for this film. After all, Christopher Ecclescakes was in it, and he doesn't pick bad projects. But then I saw the trailer. WTF? This wasn't improved by the fact the studio behind it is Walden Media (aka the studio who ruined Narnia. Unimpressed. And I hate the kid already. And bloody Lovejoy's in it - how can you take a proto-David Dickenson seriously?
Bratz - The Movie: OMG! Kill me now. Anyway shouldn't all the girls have really oversized heads with scary pouting expressions on them, or something? BFF? Fuck off.
The Film:
The Good
+ Ralph Wiggum singing the 20th Century Fox song at the start of the film.
+ The Itchy and Scratchy episode.
+ Homer mocking all the cinema goers for going to see something they could be watching on TV and paying for it.
+ Spider-pig Spider-pig does whatever a Spider-pig does.
+ Homer and Bart playing dares leading to the world seeing Bart's little Bart. You knew it was coming, you just didn't know how.
+ Using Cleetus to check that the barrier around the lake was 'idiot-proof'
+ Homer's invisible chainsaw
+ Bart's new OTP with Flanders. Awwww.
+ Tom Hanks doing the infomercial for the big (completely natural) crater.
+ Run Run, Climb Climb, Jump Jump, Sleep Sleep and subsequent mauling
+ Moe in his traffic cone crown and bullet belts. He's king of the world!
The Bad
- Didn't really like some of the sweeping 3-D shots. It just looked a bit wrong.
- No Treehouse of Terror aliens. Woes.
- Not really enough of the rest of the Simpsons, there was very little of Maggie, Marge and Lisa, but what there was was good.
In conclusion
I laughed, I tittered, I chortled, and I even did a LOL.
8/10

Date: Saturday, August 18th, 2007 04:59 pm (UTC)AGREED.
A rundown, in table format, on why The Dark is Rising is going to be Mr. Fail Fail Faility Fail-Face from Fail-town, Failania. CONTAINZ ZPOILERZ ZOMG. However, I shall be going to watch the movie because LEATHER-CLAD ECCLESTON ON A HORSE GUHHHH. Also, being able to point out the inconsistencies between book and film makes me feel intellectually superior to everyone else in the theatre.

Date: Saturday, August 18th, 2007 07:29 pm (UTC)"Thank you big boobed lady".
And did Ralph not say "i like boys/men now" after seeing Bart whizzing past with no clothes on ?
My memory is a bit dim at the moment.
I want to see Stardust as well, but i don't think my mate is that interested in seeing it (he's not a book nerd like me).
