Halp!

I'm having some real problems with Image Ready at the moment. When I try to open an .avi or a .mov file in it (to make animated gif) instead of getting the image to select the frames from I get a plain screen. There's no slider or play/pause button or volume control and if I try to convert to a gif file I get get frames of black.

I've got Photoshop 7.0 and ImageReady 7.0 and we're running Quicktime Pro 7.0

Anyone know what's causing it? Or recommend another programme that will let me edit avi files into gifs?

Codec problem or conflict? Normally when I have issues with frames coming out black in WMM or MoviePlus, that's the issue.

My avi codecs went screwy for no apparent reason a while back. There must have been some conflict but no idea what caused it. Obviously something to do with the combination of codec and program as the file would play fine elsewhere.

I just had to reinstall them.

Try asking icon_tutorial? There are 22,000 people there and although half of them are stupid, the other half are quite helpful! I bet they'll know.

I've asked one of your icon_tutors, rather than bother the comm to begin with, in case it's something really easy. However, I'm currently getting round it with your brilliant tip to Ctrl+C from Quicktime, which I didn't know you could do.
