I'm off to ATP tomorrow.

I'm off to my third ATP festival tomorrow. ([first], [second] But will anything top seeing The Shins and the Decemberists live during the first one and meeting Guy Garvey (!) at the second?

Looking forward to seeing Battles (who a lot of you will recognise from the Torchwood episode A Day in the Death or was it - when Owen was pottering around his house).

The only other band I know of on the line up is The National and I've seen Dinosaur Jr at pretty much every ATP I've been to.

In some ways this is a good thing because I don't have any preconceptions or any idea of what to expect, and sometimes that's a good thing.

Ooh, that looks awesome! I adore The National, so, so much and they put on a terrific live show, we saw them at a club in SF and they were really good. I don't know if you want any preconceptions, but of groups that are there and I really like - Broken Social Scene is a Canadian supergroup (really, there will probably be at least 8 or more people on the stage) and they make some terrific music. Emily Haines of Metric used to record with them, though I don't know if she does any more; hopefully Jason Collett will be with them, he's great. Iron and Wine is a guy named Sam Beam from Florida, he puts out completely gorgeous lo-fi indie folk. He's totally fantastic, I love him. Four Tet puts out some great electronica/sampley stuff, at least the couple of albums I've heard, Jens Lekman is a very cute and funny Swedish twee indie pop dude who puts on a great live show, Sunset Rubdown is one of the dudes from Wolf Parade and anything related to that is awesome, and the first SR album was great rock, and The Field are currently *the* it thing in minimalist techno. Billy loves them, their new album is good, very very chill.

Sorry, I love talking about music...I actually don't know Battles though, I'm going to go look them up!
