So, as I was saying in another post a while back, I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days in Wells to celebrate His Lordship's BFF wedding. The wedding was brilliant and the reception involved a lot of drink and food and leaving the bride and groom surprises in their honeymoon suite (which was beyond awesome, really - three massive rooms, a shower big enough for five, a massive copper bath, walk in wardrobe, all combined the suite was as big as my entire house and it cost £500 a night).

But the reason I'm posting this was because we did the Hot Fuzz tour the following day. (A tour made much easier by staying at The Swan Hotel (which is where Angel stayed in the film)

This is my second time visiting Wells. The first time was back in the summer of 2005 where we were parked by a bunch of Winnebago's on the main car park in Wells and watched the camera and lighting crews setting up, not realising at the time they were filming Hot Fuzz (bats in a 100 mile radius probably heard my cry of sadness when I found out about a week and a half later - so close to actually seeing Simon and Nick yet so far :()

Followingis a mixture of photos from Wells that I took and a ruck of screencaps from the film as my camera was completely playing up and a lot of my photos didn't come out. I think the auto-focus is going on the camera, but I have no way of manually focussing it).

This bit in the Swan is all different now. The check in desk is still there, but it's all open plan and not a little hatch. There was the most ace little leather chair next to the check in which was all enclosed, we did take a photo of me sat in it, but it didn't come out.

The corridors have also had a little bit of redecoration too. I prefer them now to be honest.

His Lordship loves to try and scare me by re-enacting that bit of the Blair Witch Project. Oh, he's soooo funny.

The rooms also look a lot sexier now too...

A Bed big enough for four (which was amazingly comfortable, I had a brilliant (slightly drunken) nights sleep), a 22 inch HD Samsung TV (like the one we've got at home so I could work the remote control)...

...a little sitting room which was very comfy...

...massive windows with views of the alleyway to the car park, our friends in the room opposite...

...gorgeous prints of various scenes of Wells that were printed onto canvas frames...

...The creepers opposite were full of beautiful little birds. I liked the way the sunlight from one of the other rooms reflected onto that window...

...and to top it off we had a chandelier. Really how cool is our room? Mind you it was £127 a night so for that money were expected it to be good.

The next morning, and slightly hungover, we went for a walk around Wells as we were in no state to drive home (just yet) and I wanted to buy my body weight in fudge from the nice little fudge shop that's on the corner opposite the fountain.

His Lordship went into the little newsagents to get a paper. Sadly they had no Cornetto's otherwise we would have bought some.

And we visited Somerfield for supplies for the trip home. I was very tempted to go sliding down the aisles but managed to restrain myself.

The Anchor was closed when we went past on Saturday morning but it does sport a little blue plaque by its front door saying that Hot Fuzz was filmed there.

All this was filled with a little arts and crafts market (which also had the bestest cheese stall, I bought cheese. I didn't take a comparison picture as the local CSOs were giving me a funny look.

There was a stall which was selling the nicest little glass wall plaques. I would have bought one but they were super expensive. The dichroic glass jewellery wasn't that nice though, nothing I'd buy and I usefully end up buying something dichroic from a glass jewellery stall on markets like this.

We could see the church tower from our hotel room. We had a moment of silence for Adam from Adam and Joe who met his cruel end there. (not in real life, obviously).

There were no shoot-outs when we were there either, but there was a really good second hand book stall where Simon is currently lying.

We went up to the Cathedral. I spent a lot of time explaining the end of the last episode of Bonekickers to an increasingly incredulous His Lordship (who called it all bollocks)

We would have gone in for a look around but they wanted £5.50 for the privilege, we couldn't even go for a walk around the the grounds because they're doing a lot of repair work at the moment.

I'd love to live on that street. It's so quaint looking and nice. And there's no cars. Ooh, fancy.

We headed back out to the Market Square and through that little archway to the 'castle'

looking towards the 'castle' and the moat where Excalibur is hidden.

The swans had done a runner the day we were there too.

See no swans. I never thought that birds big enough to break your arm with their wings* would be so camera shy.

*generally accepted fact which is not actually true. A bit like the one about dogs not being able to look up

Then we headed off to see some friends who live by the White Horse of Westbury for a lovely cup of tea and some Olympic diving watching.

You mean you didn't go and leap over a set of small garden fences?

Shame on you!

We did stand at the bit where Simon goes "have you never taken a shortcut?" but we didn't do any fence jumping. We couldn't do it justice and I'd only end up breaking my nose or something.

Hot Fuzz is made of so much win, it's unbelievable. Glad you had fun, even if your camera is playing up!

We may have been reenacting bits of the film as we wandered around Wells, but I cannot confirm that :)

I have so much love for Hot Fuzz.

Oh, lovely photos! I'm looking forward to visiting Wells when I come back over. Now I'll have to watch "Hot Fuzz" before I do, won't I?

(I know, the very fact I haven't seen it yet is a massive FAIL on my part)

Your room was gorgeous, too! So glad you had a nice time there.
