things and stuff

I'm sad that there's only a couple of weeks left of my car maintenance course. I've been having so much fun doing them.
So far this term I have learnt, amongst other things:
[x] Changed many wheels. (Discovered just how weak and weedy I am, I think I'll be getting the nice name form the AA to change any flat tyres I may have.)
[x] How to take an engine apart, where the head gasket goes and what happens to it when it breaks and the garage chrages you £300+ to get it fixed. (It's amazingly fiddly for such a tiny, rubbish, badly designed part.)
[x] How to change lightbulbs all over the car (Easier than you think - unless you drop the bulb into the body of the car. Then it gets a little bit trickier.)
[x] Fault finding with some dogy bulbs, fuses and a voltage meter - this was brilliant fun. (I now really want one of those screwdrivers that lights up to tell you that there's voltage running through something. They're awesomesocks.)
[x] Watched the tutor take a starter motor out of an engine and then make it run using a car, battery, some jump leads and some big old sparks. (I was a bit frit at that!)
[x] Gone through an MOT check (I was the MOT tester's assistant, so I got to sit in the car to operate everything while it's was 10 foot in the air on a hydraulic ramp. :)
[x] Took a car door apart and then put it back together again. (I developed a serious hate for fiddly horseshoe clips.)
[x] Learnt more than I ever need to know about driveshafts, coils, pistons and tapits.
[x] And how the internal combustion engine works. (It's a bit clever like, well done post-Industrial Revolution people.)
And also discussed a lot of Top Gear (Well it's almost required watching for the course!)
Things I've not done on my course
[x] Fix the broken sidelight on His Lordship's car as he still hasn't bought the replacement part for it.
[x] Worn overalls or dungarees
[x] Got covered in dirty, old, Oil

In other news, I went to my idea of shopping heaven tonight. Yes, that's right, good old IKEA. I can't help it, it's makes me so happy wondering around, following the arrows, bouncing on the beds and messing around in the kitchen displays. And IKEA have sent me a £10 off when you spend £60 voucher so it would be rude not to go.
I had a list that I was going to stick to as well, as I was going without adult supervision (and we all know what happened the last time I did that):
2 x bowls @ 25p each
1 x foam matress topper @ £80
I actually ended up buying:
4 x little plates @ 99p each
2 x Plates @ £1.49 each
3 x Table Decorations 99p each
1 x Starry Christmas lights @ 1.99
1 x mattress topper @ £80
1 x flat pack wooden storage box thing for putting my glass in
Total £98.90 (- £10 voucher, not that it makes a difference)
Which is why I need to have adult supervision. *inserts rolling eye smilie right about here*
Tomorrow, I'm off for Shopping - The Return. This little country mouse is off to the big city on a training course. Cleverly, I've booked half a day off work and I'm spending the afternoon enjoying the shops and the Christmas Market and abusing my NUS discount card. Hoorahs! I may even enjoy a bit of outdoor ice skating in the square. Depends what the weather's like really.

His Lordship has made a new level. It's called Quiz Bang Bang, please be going and playing it. And leave him feedback! Thank you.

My Dad has a flashy screwdriver. Andrew seems to prefer the 'spark-ouch!' method...
We also went to Ikea last week and got out just below £100 (without a single Christmas decoration!). And this Monday we received that voucher. Bummer.
