A distressing morning

So there I was, minding my own business in the shower, happily washing my hair, when i felt something crawl across the back of my neck. Thinking it was a spider I panicked-ly swiped it off and turned round....

...to come face to face with the biggest Queen wasp I have ever seen. She was like the size of my thumb.

And she was pissed off. Obviously I screamed and ran from the bathroom (difficult in my current situation) and stood shivering in the bedroom with Bilbo protecting me until His Lordship managed to dispatch of said Queen wasp with a copy of my Buffy Yearbook.

We think she came in through the vent for the extractor fan in the bathroom looking for somewhere to hibernate through the winter because she spent about five minutes trying to get inside the bathroom light fitting. Said extractor fan is now covered in loads of sticky tape to deter any other wasps from following.

This really isn't the sort of scare I should be being put through at the moment.

Argh. If it was that big, it might have been a hornet, since they are ridiculously big. Having said that, I believe they are meant to be less bad-tempered than wasps, but on the one occasion I saw one, I wasn't really willing to hang around and find out...

It's quite possible, but I waddled away as fast as I could, all I saw was the black and yellow stripes and the fact it was massive, I didn't check for a little waspy crown. And it was very grumpy.

Arrgh, I hate wasps, poor you! His Lordship is very brave getting rid of it, I had to hide out in the kitchen for an hour the other day waiting for one of my hosuemates to get home to dispose of one.

Can I be put on the Cheddar stream of your journal too? I saw the video of Cheddar "excercising" you put on fb the other day, made me giggle!
