trying to navigate lj on my phone is becoming very difficult and annoying.

My laptop is on its last legs and is taking nearly an hour to load.

I think it's time I invested in a new laptop. I rather fancy getting a netbook but don't know which one to get. Can you give me some advice?

I've had a Dell Mini 9 for nearly a year, and I love it like a burning thing. It's very light (1 kg), runs XP and has managed to survive being dropped at least three times. The in-built camera proved surprisingly useful, too. However, it does have limited storage (8 GB), and a very tiny keyboard which is weirdly set up (all the F keys as well as Page Up and Down, for example, can only be accessed by holding the 'function' key, but are placed so that you can't use it with one hand without practise), nor does it have a CD or floppy drive.

That being said, it's very light and very handy for me, especially for college, and you do get used to the keyboard quickly. Dell UK are selling Mini 10s for £229 with 160 GB memory (at 1.2 kg), and which seem to have sorted out some of the kooky keyboard issues. I'd recommend you'd get it if you need ultra-portability, and if you already have a desktop or laptop (more of an issue for me with the 8 GB storage and all, but I would not want to run Sims 3 on the Mini 9). Plus, the outside is shiny and pretty and you'd probably be able to wipe most of the baby-goo off it... :)

As in iddy biddy laptop? I have an Acer One Aspire and I love him to bitsies. He lives in the lounge room to use whenever we do the 'is that?' in a movie or tv-show.
I have the Linux version reinstalled to Ubuntu so I don't know how the Windows versions fair but I have several f-listers who have the same model and love theirs as well :)

I have the Samsung N110 which I like - 9 hour battery life FTW.

(Only 1024 by 600 screen though - although you can get some software to whack it up a bit - there's very good online informal support for the machine as well.)
