Oh Doctor Who, how I've missed you. Although the new series is tinged with bittersweetness due to the sad news about Elisabeth Sladen this week. It was nice of them to put a little dedication to her at the start.

[x] The Eleventh Doctor is a bit of a cad and a bounder. Just look at that painting! And the fact that he was naked under a lady's skirts. The shame.

[x] That shot of the MIB!Silence looked so much like Professor Brian Cox. I demand an icon once screengrabs are available of it with the caption "I love stars". It sort of took the scariness away a bit.

[x] But they brought scary back in spades later on. The idea of someone or something being there but you're unable to remember them once you've turned away is actually terrifying. It would actually be a great plot for a horror film. (That I'd never watch because it would be just too scary and I can't get behind my sofa to hide) And was it just me or did the sides of their heads pulse?

[x] I love the domesticated Rory and Amy, it looks like Amy's moved out of her gorgeous old house though.

[x] I give up on the Doctor's canon age now. He might as well say that he's 39 again or something.

[x] How brilliant would it have been if the Doctor had actually regenerated in the first scene he was in. What a coup that would be! (It would be devasting due to the lack of Matt Smith in the rest of the series - but a regeneration that no one knew about - awesome.)

[x] River: she can shoot off the Doctor's Stetson but not get a shot on target on an alien in a spacesuit. Disappointing (but I reckon it was the Doctor anyway - let's see if I'm proved out in the next episode)

[x] Oh the threat of time paradoxes and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I love those sorts of stores. Surely they realise that he can probably hear them under the console having their sekkrit meeting.

[x] The Doctor trusts himself completely, I wouldn't if I was him.

[x] I wonder if [livejournal.com profile] caksey was happy at the inclusion of a certain President Nixon? I loved the way that he recorded everything. I didn't love the fact he looked nothing like actual Nixon though. (Other than having a face and a nose).

[x] and it's him from out of everything Sci Fi ever; all we need to do now is get him in Torchwood and he'll have a pretty much complete set.

[x] The screamer line made me laugh, a lot. Just friends, pffft.

[x] I need a big old timeline for River to keep straight where we on her timeline, let alone where the Doctor is. Her conversation with Rory was a bit heartbreaking (and Time Traveler's Wife) and not a truer word is spoken when she said that the time that she meets the Doctor will kill her. I love River and I'm sad about this fact. And Rory's comment when she asked him to imagine what it's like to be someone so shaped by the Doctor. (Theories that River and Amy are the same person will likely start resurfacing again now.)

[x] Isn't that the exact same spaceship as was above James Corden's flat in The Lodger? That'll possibly explain [a random spoiler].

[x] Who's the little girl in the spacesuit? (Other than this year's Are You My Mummy?)

[x] And there's the reason for Amy and Rory's departure from the TARDIS then.

And then it was all over, already. That was a really quick 45 minutes. And we've got a whole week to wait now. OMG!

Him From Everything - Mark Sheppard.

Nixon guy looked more like Nixon than he sounded. I was highly irritated by that. I know people don't want to be camp, but he could at least have gone Frank Langella style, more bluster.

I THINK River said something after her attempted shooting of the spacesuit person that indicated that she couldn't shoot them for some reason.

I'll have to watch again.

I think it was immune to bullets, like every blasted alien menace they come across.

I watched it again this morning and she said 'of course not...'

Intriguing!
