Having a poke around on the internet for 2 night stays around the O2 and this is what I found.

Ibis - Docklands - £190 for two nights
Novatel - Excel - £200 for two nights
Ramada - Doclands £189 for two nigts
London City Airport - £107 for two nights (Travelodge)
London Docklands £198.00 for two nights (Premier Inn)

What's everyone planning on doing? Due to how much it costs I'm thinking of coming down early Saturday morning from the Shire and going back then Sunday afternoon. Unless someone else is coming down on the Friday and I can share.

Then I thought, how about we get ourselves a dorm or something in a hostel? They work out at £35 or so a night and there's plenty to chose from. What do you think?

(Please note, this is me procastinating and trying not to think about a) moving b) packing c) impending redundancy)

If I had the room I would gladly put you all up but, alas, I don't even have a sofa someone could sleep on.

that's ok, but I demand compensation in the form of hugs when I see you.

Hugs I can most definitely do.

I can do one night or two, I'm flexible. I'm also not above hostels either (and like saving money). If we go for a dorm I might have a friend who is looking for london accommodation that weekend too, if people don't mind one extra person, nor that the person is trans.

I don't mind sharing on a Friday. I am flexible either way tbh. I'm happy to stay if it makes it easier for people (it's £30 return on the train for me so if we're going to do something Sunday too then financially staying isn't much more expensive).

I tend to have an aversion to hostels though from a bad experience. :(

Out of that list I'd go with any of the Docklands/Excel ones since they're prob the most practical. I've stayed in two of them before for London Excel and they're pretty good. Premier Inn is obviously a known establishment too.

Most of those places would be via Custom House on the DLR which is easy enough.

bad experience in a hostel in the past makes me a litle wary.
Personally I'd hotel it, £49 a person a night in the Docklands premier inn?

I can't afford to stay over so I'm rather glad that we got the afternoon concert! However, I can recommend the Generator Hostel in Central London - the nearest tube is Russell Square so it's nowhere near the O2, but it is good value and the private rooms are perfectly acceptable (it was less fun in a mixed-sex dorm). Breakfast is basic cereal and toast but on an all-you-can-eat basis and the rooms all have a sink in them according to the website. Prices start at £15 for a dorm space or £20 for space in a private room and the only thing I found was that my sister and I were the only Brits there and I think other people thought it was a bit strange - sort of "This is a backpackers' hostel - what are you doing here?"!
