I've finished it!
July 21st, 2007 12:20 pmThat's it, ten long years and it's all over. It feels a bit strange.
It's nice to see that the internets is still here, but I think the real wank is yet to come.
Trundled off to Tescos at midnight to go and pick up my copy. They are very bad kitties because they were selling the book for a tenner (and not a fiver like they were advertising - but I couldn't be arsed to head off to the 24 Asda with is miles away). The place was absolutely heaving, they had two massive pallets of books (in one each adult and childrens editions) by the doors and there were people literally running to get their copies and reading them in the queue to pay and everything. Then back home to a cuppa and my bed to make a start on it. I wasn't going to rush it (after reading HBP in about four hours), but I read pretty much continuously until 5.30am (with occassional breaks for more tea and chocolate) until I could barely keep my eyes open. (Hey, I'm getting on a bit, I can't pull all-nighters like you young'uns). Back up again just after 8am to finish it off. In total about 6 hours to read it (including tea breaks and feeding Bilbo and stuff).
( spoilers, lots and lots of Deathly Hallows spoilers including actual quotes and stuff - mostly in bullet points )
In conclusion: I liked it. 7/10 And less than three hours sleep is not good for you. I feel like death warmed up (and probably don't look too disimilar)
