The news is all over my flist, the Press Release can be found here.
[Poll #1191098]
Meself, I'm cautiously pleased about the appointment. He does have the love and the best interests at heart for the show, which is what it needs in the way of a showrunner, plus he's written my favourite episodes of each series since new!Who started, he's created some iconic monsters (in Jamie and the Weeping Angels).
And he's the man who wrote my favourite TV Series of my formative years - Press Gang - I come already programmed with love for the Moff. (and I helpfully ignore him when he puts his foot in it)
I really hope that we'll get scarier episodes, more black comedy and brilliant roles for supporting cast. I think what we'll see on screen for the next couple of weeks with Moffat's two parter will give us a good idea of what to expect. I also hope that the Moff won't feel the need to write over half the episodes and bring in new blood to breathe new life into the series.
But I do worry that all the hopes I have for the newnew!Who won't come to be.
Do you think that he'll only be referred to as "Hugo Award winning writer Steven Moffat" from now on?
Dexter Fletcher for the Eleventh Doctor - hell yes!
