on Robin Hood

I find Robin Hood so much more enjoyable if I think of it not as historical fantasy but as futuristic fantasy and it's not actually medieval England but some far-distant Pern-like planet where everyone's gone cod-medieval because it explains away all the anachronisms so neatly.

And all the geographical errors.

For example. This week they visited Clun. The only Clun in the country is in Shropshire (and it has an ace pub there) As you can see it's a little bit out of the local Nottingham area. (Clun is the blue marker on the left, Nottingham on the right)


Also, turquoise in the forest? Not the best camouflage colour. Does Marion want to get picked off by one of the Sheriff's soldiers?

Some illustrated thoughts on Time Crash

Yes, it was nothing more than a seven-minute love letter to Classic Who, but I adored it. Which I think was helped, in no small part by the cast.

I know I shouldn’t worship at the altar of the Moffat, but I can’t help myself. Yes, it did have it flaws "paradox inducing ones no less), and no real plot to speak of "but then again you are constrained by the fact it’s been slapped in the middle of something that generally has newsreaders singing and dancing *shudders*) and it was a little bit too self-congratulatory, but I did really enjoy it.

Another plus point in it’s favour was that it actually had a proper name. Because Pudsey Cutaway was just rubbish.


Oh, oh! I have a random Peter Davison fact: according to my immensely knowledgeable friend, he wrote the theme tune for Button Moon. This makes him officially awesome. "and also explains my non-Who icon up there)
