kalihaLiveJournal have finally made a statement about deleting and purging accounts that they've been going on about for ages. However, it doesn't appear to be all good news.
If you have a journal that's not been logged into or updated for over 24 months it will be purged and the ground salted. (This means my original journal, that I lost the password for will be gone). The usernames will then become available for you to create/rename.

txvoodoo: they were going to delete all the comments belonging to a journal that's been deleted and purged, but they seem to have changed their mind about it. And a further update
What about those journals that belong to deceased people?
